United States: communist interviewed by WSJ sets the record straight The Wall Street Journalinterviewed comrade Mia Jimenez – a member of the Revolutionary Communists of America in Los Angeles – for a June 11 article titled “A Veteran, a Construction Worker, a Communist: The Many Faces of the L.A. Protests.” Naturally, the Journal’s coverage was shallow and skewed by bourgeois ideology. Comrade Mia gives her side of the story below.
LA riots and the Musk/Trump feud This week, thousands of workers flooded onto the streets of LA in response to ICE agents raiding workplaces and neighbourhoods. Since then, Trump has tried to crush the movement by calling in the Marines and the National Guard. But in so doing, he risks provoking a mass movement similar to Black Lives Matter, which forced him into hiding in the White House bunker five years ago.
Freedom Flotilla abduction sparks mass anger On Monday, the sailboat Madleen – part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) – was stormed in a nighttime raid by the IDF. Surrounded by Israeli speedboats and drones, armed combat units boarded the ship as its 12 passengers, including Greta Thunberg and French MEP Rima Hassan, sat in the main cabin of the boat with their hands above their heads, fearing for their lives.

On 5 June, 14 tonnes of machine-gun parts were due to be loaded onto an Israeli cargo ship at the port of Fos-sur-Mer in southern France, bound for Haifa, Israel. The day before, however, the CGT general union of dockworkers and port handling personnel of the Gulf of Fos issued a press release announcing its categorical refusal to load the 19 pallets of military equipment.
India: repression after Operation Sindoor and Modi’s ‘new normal’ A shaky peace has held between India and Pakistan after they traded blows in a brief war last month. While the bombs have fallen silent for now, Indian Prime Minister Modi is exploiting the opportunity to target dissenters for harassment, arrest and (in the case of Maoist fighters in Chhattisgarh) extra-judicial murder, all under the cover of postwar patriotism.
Netherlands: government collapses as Wilders withdraws After only 11 months, the Dutch government of prime-minister Dick Schoof has collapsed as notorious rightwing demagogue Geert Wilders decided to pull the plug on it. At a time when the ruling class needs a strong government that ramps up military spending and makes cuts to everything else, this brings more instability and uncertainty to Dutch politics.
ICE out of LA! Workers defend themselves against Trump’s raids Over the weekend of June 6, Los Angeles was subject to a coordinated series of raids by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE). Militarized federal agents armed with assault rifles and teargas grenade launchers were assisted by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Dozens of officers descended on workplaces in immigrant-dense working-class neighborhoods in downtown and East Los Angeles, arresting at least 44 people.
Greece: drop the outrageous charges against the KKE trade unionists! Solidarity with the activists! The decision of the Third Misdemeanour Court of Thessaloniki to convict seven trade unionists from the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) for their actions on 6 April 2022 against the NATO war machine is, to say the least, unacceptable.

Polish presidential election: vote of no confidence in the establishment While Polish presidents do not hold nearly as much power as their French or American counterparts, the recent Polish election attracted enormous attention both in the country and abroad. Now, as the dust settles, one can clearly identify the real loser of this election. As the fall of the złoty and the Warsaw stock market shows: the establishment is rattled.
