The World School of Communism

Every two years, the Revolutionary Communist International hosts a world school. Bringing together thousands of communists from all around the globe in person and online for a week of discussion on Marxist theory, these schools are crash courses for steeling revolutionaries in the ideas we need to bring down this system. All of these talks have been made available to stream online, making them a permanent and extremely valuable resource. Niklas Albin Svensson introduces a discussion at the World School of the International Marxist Tendency on the book "Russia: From Revolution to Counter-Revolution". He covers the history of Russia from the October Revolution to the restoration of Capitalism in the 1990s.

One of the great classics of Marxism is the book by Frederick Engels entitled 'The Origins of the Family, Private Property and the State'. Engels applies the method of historical materialism to this earliest period of pre-history to uncover the past. Rob Sewell, editor of Socialist Appeal, gives an introduction to the book and explains how class society came into existence.

At the recent Marxist summer school in London, Alan Woods - author of "Bolshevism: the road to revolution" - explores the ideas of Bolshevism and discusses the vital role of Lenin and Trotsky in the Russian Revolution of 1917.

We publish here two videos of the discussion about the Italian Hot Autumn of 1969 which took place at the World School of the International Marxist Tendency 2013 in Greece. The discussion was led off by Claudio Bellotti.

Alan Woods gave a speech at the 2013 World School of the International Marxist Tendency about Perspectives for World Revolution. He speaks about the lightning speed at which events like the mass movements in Turkey and Brazil or the second Egyption revolution are taking place. Due to the worldwide crisis of capitalism, similar events will happen in every country on the planet.

The crisis of Capitalism today affects all countries of the world. At the same time there is no prospect of recovery in sight. As many bourgeois strategists have been forced to admit, only the ideas of Marxism have been able to analyse and explain the situation. In this video Alan Woods explains the roots of the crisis from a Marxist perspective and the way out of the impasse.

Fred Weston, Editor of the 'In Defence of Marxism' website, talks about Karl Marx and the attempt of building the first international Workers' Party. This talk about the early days of the ideas of scientific Socialism highlights invaluable lessons for revolutionaries today.

This is a video recording of the book launch of Ted Grant: The Permanent Revolutionary. Alan Woods spoke and gave an account of Ted's struggle for and his contribution to the ideas of Marxism. In the speech he gives an account of the history of the 4th International and the role of the British Marxists, the rise of the Militant Tendency and its degeneration.

At the recent annual  Marxist Winter School, this year hosted by the UCLU Marxist Society in London, the agenda was was dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Karl Marx’s death, with sessions covering the important contributions that Marx made towards the worlds of politics, economics, history, and philosophy. Here we provide the video of the session, led by Jorge Martin about the key question of building a Marxist international organisation.
