[Video] Women, the Family, and the Russian Revolution Every year on 8th March, International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world. Most people are not aware of the fact that on 8th March 1917, it was actually women who started the events that led to the Russian Revolution.

In November of the same year, women in the UK were allowed to stand for parliament for the first time. In December, women voted for the first time in a British general election.
