A recent poll conducted by the Fraser Institute in the UK, US, Australia and Canada, found that 29 percent, 20 percent, 20 percent and 13 percent of 18-34 year olds in those countries respectively regard communism as the “ideal economic system”. Had these polls been conducted elsewhere, no doubt they would have revealed similar figures all over the globe.

This means that there are literally millions of potential communists on every continent. But being a communist isn’t just about agreeing with communist ideas. As Marx explained, “the philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways; the point, however, is to change it.” The capitalist class will not give up their power voluntarily. And as capitalism drags the world towards an abyss of war, impoverishment, hunger, and above all climate catastrophe, we know that we are in a race against time – a race to organise these millions of others into a fighting organisation that can overthrow the capitalist system and finally build a communist future for humanity: a future worthy of human beings.

We have made exceptional progress in recent years. But now we need your help to achieve this task. Get in touch and we will put you in contact with a branch of the RCI near you. The revolution needs you – join us!

Our editorial team are regularly updating the following feed, consisting of reports of the work of our comrades on every continent, to give you a flavour of the kind of activity RCI comrades are engaged in around the globe.

The ‘Are You a Communist?’ campaign is going from strength to strength in the Spanish section of the International Marxist Tendency. In just one month, thousands of posters and stickers have been put up across 12 different cities. Our posters carry the same simple yet effective message of the campaign as all our comrades in all other parts of the world: we invite all of you who identify as communists to join us in the fight against capitalism.

9 September marked the first All-Ireland meeting of the International Marxist Tendency (IMT) which met in Dublin. Comrades came from around the country including Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Meath and Limerick, with a comrade attending from the international centre of the IMT, making a total of 15 attendees. Comrades were all filled with a mood of revolutionary enthusiasm, and after a day of political discussions comrades left with heightened spirits, ready to spread the ideas of Marxism and to build the Marxist tendency in Ireland!

A new generation of communists is being forged by capitalism’s crises and catastrophes. “He who has the youth, has the future,” Lenin famously proclaimed. We call on radical young people to get organised and join us in the fight for revolution.

On Saturday 16 September in Trieste, Italy, comrades of Sinistra Classe Rivoluzione, the IMT in Italy, who were holding a stall as part of the “Are you a communist? Then get organised!” campaign, were suddenly attacked by fascist thugs, who overturned the stall, physically assaulted the three comrades and then ran off. A few hours earlier, the national page of another fascist organisation had posted a poster of our campaign.

The state of Texas is often viewed as an impenetrable cesspool of conservatism. Texas and other Southern states are known for the frequent attacks by the ruling class and their state governments against workers, women, immigrants, LGBTQ people, etc., and many people write off the state entirely, thinking that this stranglehold can’t be broken.

Meta, the social media giant that owns Facebook and Instagram, began blocking all news from its platforms in Canada in August. The news ban followed the federal government’s passage of Bill C-18, the Online News Act, which required big tech to pay media outlets for content they use or repurpose on their platforms. Google also planned to begin blocking news in Canada by the end of the year, when C-18 comes into effect. For communists, the banning of news on platforms owned by billionaires underscores the need for an independent

The final episode of the International Marxist Radio podcast explains "Why We Are Communists". You can watch a video of the discussion on our YouTube channel and listen to the audio version on your preferred podcast streaming platform.
