Lenin’s struggle against bureaucracy

This year, for the centenary of Lenin’s death, we have dedicated our ‘Lenin in a year’ series to explaining the key works of this great revolutionary. As the year draws to a close, we share the final part of this series, which covers Lenin’s last struggle, as well as the works produced to wage it, chiefly his postscript to his ‘Letter to the Congress’, also known as his ‘Testament’.

On 6 December, Romania’s Constitutional Court decided to cancel the first round of the country’s presidential election in an attempt to prevent right-wing demagogue Călin Georgescu from winning the country’s top office. The decision was cheered by the European Union and liberals. Apparently, Romanians cannot be trusted to vote for the ‘right’ candidate.

Two weeks after South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol’s (윤석열) shocking attempt at placing the country under martial law – which was defeated after 6 hours – the South Korean National Assembly finally voted to impeach him on Saturday 14 December.

En las últimas semanas, la ofensiva de Hayat-Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) respaldada por Turquía ha logrado derrocar al régimen de Assad. En los medios de comunicación occidentales esto ha sido generalmente celebrado. Sin embargo, algo de lo que no se ha informado es del simultáneo avance turco en una parte de la Administración Autónoma Democrática de la Región Norte y Este de Siria (AANES) kurda, más comúnmente conocida como Rojava.

Nas últimas semanas, a ofensiva turca apoiada pelo Hayat-Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) conseguiu derrubar o regime de Assad. Nos meios de comunicação ocidentais, isto foi amplamente celebrado. Contudo, uma situação que não tem sido reportada é o avanço simultâneo da Turquia para uma parte da Área Autónoma Curda no Nordeste da Síria (AANES), mais conhecida como Rojava.

Period nakon predsedničkih izbora, kada odlazeći predsednik završava svoj mandat usmeravajući se na finalizaciju svog nasleđa, dok novom izabranom predsedniku preostaje da formira tim koji će preuzeti vlast, obično su period političkog zatišja u SAD. Ne i ovog puta.
