PCF members have been voting all over France in the last two days to choose which of the three alternative documents should be the base of discussion at the coming party congress in December. According to the official figures announced on the PCF website the document written by the comrades of La Riposte, "Renforcer le PCF, renouer avec le marxisme", obtained a resounding success which went beyond any expectations: 5419 or 15.04% of the total valid votes. Clearly this result puts the Marxist tendency on the map for thousands of French workers for the first time and opens up enormous new possibilities. A more exhaustive report is being prepared by the comrades of La Riposte and will be published in the next few days. The success of the Marxists is even more remarkable when we compare it with the result of the “Left Reformist and nationalist” wing of the PCF which has important traditions within the party and scored just 3000 (24%) votes more than the document of the Marxists. Below we reproduce the figures provided by the PCF website: Of the 134,000 members of the PCF 78,779 had the right to vote, being fully paid up, and of these 39,692 took part in the voting procedure (50.38 %). Of these 3659 were either blank votes or invalid (9.22 %) and therefore the number of valid votes were 36,033. The three documents received the following votes : “Vouloir un monde nouveau, le construire au quotidian”, 21946 votes (60,91%) ; “Renforcer le PCF, renouer avec le marxisme”, (the document presented by La Riposte supporters) 5419 votes (15,04%) ; “Faire vivre et renforcer le PCF, une exigence de notre temps”, 8659 votes (24,03%).
