Kashmir is the heart of south-western Asia whose sovereignty is disputed between Pakistan and India since more than half a century. It has been the target of a campaign of terrorism propagated and thousands of lives including those of civilians, Kashmiri militants and Indian security forces, have been lost since insurgency began to counter the Indian occupation of Kashmir.

Lal Khan’s Kashmir’s Ordeal: A Revolutionary Way Out is the first major work on Kashmir’s political perspective on a class basis. The book makes for a compelling but powerful and illuminating read. The author is the editor of the Asian Marxist Review since 1987. Having written 25 books from a Marxist perspective, Lal Khan is his pen name as he wrote most of his works under a brutal dictatorship, in clandestine conditions. Through this book he brings forth a clear revolutionary alternative for the solution of the traumatic Kashmir issue.
